How to Survive High School
1) Join an extracurricular group - Chances are that you'll get tired of going to school and then going home to "study." I think it's common knowledge that almost all students procrastinate. Why not join something you enjoy and procrastinate productively? I'm sure there will be something at your school that will accommodate your interests.
2) Avoid Drama - There will always be drama wherever you go. I'm sorry. You can't be a turtle and hide in your shell. But what you can do is avoid it as much as possible. Don't get into the middle of your friend's argument. They will eventually solve it when the time comes. The only exception for an intervention is when they never make up. Then go for it!
3) Help your community - I get that all high school students are "busy" but are you really? You can't take the time to help someone in need? Whether it is giving some random homeless person a dollar or food, I'm sure it won't take too long for you to take a second to do these things. If you're feeling ambitious and want a lot of volunteer hours for colleges to notice you, then I advise you to start early and find something you would enjoy volunteering/being a part of.

How to Survive College
1) Be early to Class - For all you soon-to-be first years, I advise you to be early to class. Usually the first week of school WILL BE HECTIC! Don't be naive and think "I have enough time to get ready for class. I'll just make it 5 minutes before class starts." NO! Don't do that! Chances are there will be a lot of people in that class. Be at school EARLY! Give time for yourself to find that class/lecture hall and save you the trouble of trying to find a seat.
2) Go to Class - As the days/weeks pass by you will find yourself unmotivated to go to class. You are PAYING for COLLEGE TUITION! Do NOT waste your money by deciding that it will be okay to skip class.
3) Make GOOD Habits - If you don't establish your schedule accordingly (i.e. wake up early, go to office hours... etc..), then you most likely won't achieve good grades. If you get into the motions of waking up early and going to additional office hours then you guarantee your academic success for the rest of the semester or quarter. Unless, of course, you are a genius or have photographic memory. -.-
4) Get rid of your Excuses - You can't go to class because you're sick? Bring tissues, a mask, medicine and a ton of halls. You can't go to class because you're hungry? Bring food. You can't do your homework because your laptop isn't working? Go to school early to use the desktop. You can't study because it's too cold? Wear more clothes. All of these little hiccups in your college experience will affect you if you don't find a way to eliminate all these problems. Fix your problems! And if you can't fix them, GET HELP! There are peers, friends, specialists, and psychologists who are willing to help you. FIND THEM!
