"Music is like your boyfriend/girlfriend. Some days you will find yourself frustrated and fight or even come to hate him/her. But at the end of the day you will fall completely in love again. That's being a musician for you."

Winter Percussion Championships (2007)
When I first joined Solano Middle School's Band program, I didn't know what I was getting myself into. To be more specific, I didn't know if I would fit into the Winter Percussion group. After a few weeks I realized that I was learning new things about music which made me excited. This was my first championships show for Winter Percussion.
I must thank Sharlene's (my childhood friend) mom for talking to my mom and then telling me how Sharlene was in band. I wouldn't have joined if our moms didn't talk to each other. (It's a long story...)

I don't party. Vallejo High Band and Percussion occupy most of my time and that's okay. I'm content with that. My idea of partying is waking up at 2 AM in the morning to get to school by 3 AM for call time and then getting to the competition by 8 or 9 AM.
Throughout my time with Vallejo High School's band program, I was able to work my way up and earn the titles pit co-captain, clarinet section leader, and treasurer. I couldn't have gotten those positions without the help of my peers and upperclassmen who have pushed me to do my best. A big special thank you to the band director who entrusted me with these important positions. These experiences will certainly ensure that I have good qualities as a leader and as a team player.
